Folklórico
Festival of North Texas
The
North Texas Middle Eastern Dance Association was invited to present
a one-hour lecture and dance demonstration at the 13th Annual Folklórico
Festival of North Texas on Saturday, April 3. The event was sponsored
by the Texas Association for Hispanic Dance and Culture and was
held at Molina High School in Dallas. The event included performances,
competitions, and classes in salsa, flamenco, and various folkloric
dances from throughout Mexico and South America. Liz Gallego, the
director and founder of the organization, firmly believes in making
connections between various dances forms. Consequently, there was
also hip-hop, African dance, and Middle Eastern dance.
